Responsibilities- Work closely with the network infrastructure and leadership teams to gather business needs for network expansion.
- Identify vendors and services that cater to Scaleway's network business needs, including metro and long-haul DWDM wavelengths, dark fibers, IP transit, IXP, etc.
- Negotiate key vendor contracts and orders from a business perspective.
- Work together with the network infrastructure leadership on optimizing network costs.
- Find private peering partners, negotiate private peering conditions, and develop private peering outreach.
- Analyse Scaleway traffic patterns and anticipate future capacity growth.
- Collaborate with product managers and product engineering teams to understand product roadmaps and network capacity needs.
- Work closely with the finance team on budget planning and follow-up, business case analysis, and supplier invoicing.
Mandatory Qualifications- Minimum 3 years of experience in the service provider industry (ISP, cloud, content, and CDN providers, large scale web-services).
- Understanding of the telecom and datacenter market, including key players and types of services.
- Experience in procurement and business negotiations.
- At least a basic understanding of the technical fundamentals of internet routing, fiber optics, and physical data center infrastructure.
- General computer science background : overall understanding of how computer hardware, software, and networking work, fluency in IT jargon.
- Ability to write documents and present information in a structured manner.
- Strong communication skills.
- Fluent in English and French, spoken and written.
Nice to Have Qualifications- Previous experience as a network engineer and strong technical background in IP routing, fiber optics, routing protocols, network hardware, and datacenter infrastructure.
- Established contacts with industry players.
- Fluency in French & English.
